Photographing wildflowers

It’s bluebonnet season here is Texas. This year is a bumper crop from the fall rains. Flowers are wonderful subject matter but you will need a few hints to get great photos of these small wonders.

get in close to show better detail
shoot photos in mid morning or just before sunset for best light
try different viewpoints, including lying on the ground or standing above the flower.
avoid taking photos from the same spot
if shooting in manual mode, use a larger aperture or small f-stop number, to narrow the depth of field.
use a low ISO (100 or 200) for a “noise-free” outdoor photo
