Flash can be a dirty word since so many times it just ruins a photograph and makes it look amateur. Please consider investing in a flash diffuser as I mentioned in the last blog. But here are some other ideas on flash. Not the resource at the end of this blog on where to purchase.

Use you flash in the day. You might think that you should only use flash at night time or indoors, but that’s not the case at all. If it is an extremely bright day outside and the sun is creating harsh shadows on your subject, switch on your flash. By forcing extra light onto your subject, you will be able to fill in those ugly shadows and create an even exposure. You will need to experiment a bit but remember again this is digital. Big deal.

If you can afford one, purchase an on camera flash. These little gems are amazing. Their light can be modified and they can be directed away from your subject creating wonderful images. You have probably seen them at weddings or news gatherings. They sit on top of the camera. Yes it is a little pricey but there are some costing around $60. If you really want great flash photos this is your answer.

By the way check out this on-line store. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/ They have everything, and I mean everything. Plus their customer service is excellent. They also have a used equipment department with some great deals. You can also check ebay for equipment. I have bought all my lenses on ebay and save 100’s of dollars.
